About the Event
Inspired by her local Somerset landscape in the west country of England to the Polar Regions in Canada, Iceland and Antarctica, Sandra Meech's journey begins with photography, painting, sketchbooks and collage. Images are heat transferred onto cloth before machine stitch is added. These textiles and art quilts provide a series of evocative and colourful work that makes the connection between art and stitch.
This program will be coming from Sandra's studio in Somerset, UK at 5 p.m. CDT.
Originally from Canada, Sandra has long been inspired creatively by nature and 'a sense of place'. Using photo imagery, drawing, painting and collage as starting points, her stitched textile and mixed media work has evolved in many different directions over the years. She has been a teacher, author and lecturer over the last 20 years, and although she is taking a break at the moment from teaching, she continues lectures and exhibition opportunities. Sandra exhibits with a number of professional art textile groups in the UK and her work is in private collections.
