About the Event
Colby Cartledge will share her tips on how to determine if scrap quilting is for you and will share ideas on how to set up a scrap system that enables you to actually start using your scraps. She will debunk common myths about scrap quilting, share tips on how to maintain and actively use your scraps, and of course will share many examples of how to integrate your scraps into scrap and non-scrap quilts.
Colby grew up as a single child of a single mother who was a seamstress by trade and taught her the love of fabric. Colby started making quilts at age 9 for 4-H competitions and made one every year until she went to undergrad. She resumed quilting after graduating in 2011 and has been making quilts as fast as she could buy the supplies ever since. She currently describes her work in the style of Modern Traditionalism, a mix of modern quilting principles tied back to the original roots of the craft. Originally from Texas, Colby relocated to Minneapolis in 2013 where she currently resides with her wife Katie, 2 dogs, and 3 cats.
