Susan Koefod comes from a long line of seamstresses, learning the craft from her mother, her first teacher. Her grandmother did dress alterations in the early 20th century at a department store, and sewed, knitted, and crocheted many items for her family. This is a living heritage through the arts, expressing itself through many generations. She has recently begun to enter competitions with her quilts, apparel, and purses, and has begun garnering awards and jury acceptances for her sewn and quilted creations.
She favors modern designs in textiles, and her latest interest is in improv quilting techniques. Most recently she studied improv techniques with Cindy Grisdela and Carole Lyles. Her purses feature eco friendly cork fabrics and cotton.
